The KLIMA Azoka travelling fair will come to Ibilaldia 2026 in Bilbao to bring sustainability closer to the citizens

16/04/2026

KLIMA Azoka addresses issues such as the causes of climate change, habits at home, energy, mobility, leisure and consumption, the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project, soil protection and how citizens can be part of the solution.

In the coming months, it will also be visiting Araba Euskaraz (Amurrio), World Environment Day (Ekoetxea Urdaibai), the Basque Public Schools Festival (Santurtzi) or Burdin Jaia (Gallarta).

The KLIMA Azoka travelling fair is back in 2026 with a new edition that will travel around the Basque Country to bring sustainability closer to citizens in a practical, participative and festive way. Following on from last year's success, with more than 5,000 people participating in its activities, the initiative organised by Ihobe, the Basque Energy Agency EVE and the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project, with the support of the Ekoetxea Network, will grow by incorporating new visits and reinforcing its presence at large-scale events.

The latest edition will kick off on 31st May at Ibilaldia, the major festival of the ikastolas (schools whose education is in Basque) in Bizkaia, which will be holding its 48th edition in Bilbao this year. This festive and educational event will be the first to showcase KLIMA Azoka, which will continue touring the Basque Country, visiting Ekoetxea Urdaibai on 6th June, as part of the celebrations for the World Environment Day, which is closely linked to the values promoted by the fair; followed by the Basque Public Schools Festival in Santurtzi on 7th June, and it will move on to Araba Euskaraz in Amurrio (14th June) and the Burdin Jaia in Gallarta (12th and 13th September), a popular cultural event that celebrates the mining tradition of Bizkaia. Further dates and locations will be confirmed shortly.

The main objective of KLIMA Azoka is none other than .to empower the population and encourage co-responsibility in the fight against climate change. Thanks to different themed tents, games, dynamics and a challenge passport, KLIMA Azoka will invite citizens to reflect on their daily habits and to commit themselves to small actions that add up to moving towards a more sustainable society.

With 7 tents, KLIMA Azoka addresses environmental issues, such as the causes of climate change, energy, habits at home, mobility, leisure, consumption, soil protection and how to contribute to change from a personal perspective. The ultimate goal is for each individual to take on a challenge and commit to taking action.

Learning, fun and climate and energy action

KLIMA Azoka maintains its essence: bringing climate action closer to the daily life of families, in a simple and motivating way. The fair offers participatory workshops, games, interactive spaces, environmental challenges and practical materials that invite reflection on everyday habits, such as mobility, energy, consumption, food or waste management.

The success of the last edition, backed by a high level of participation, attracted mainly families in a format that combined interactive tests, mini-experiences, play areas and practical content. The organisation plans to reinforce this line in 2026, with renewed activities and collaboration with local entities and educational centres.

A fair that travels to where the citizens are

The events hosted by KLIMA Azoka share a common denominator: they are festive and open spaces that are deeply rooted in the community. Ibilaldia, Araba Euskaraz or the Basque Public Schools Festival are events that bring together thousands of people each year and are inter-generational meeting points. Integrating the fair in these environments ensures a broad and diverse impact, while facilitating an accessible and approachable experience. KLIMA Azoka is committed to the same philosophy: making sustainability collective, practical and motivating

Therefore, the fair is an opportunity to learn, share and act together for a healthier and more sustainable future, while enjoying the popular festivals of the Basque Country.
