LIFE Platform Meeting on Soils
In person: Palacio Baluarte. Pamplona / P. Tecnológico Álava
From 10 to 11 April 2024, two LIFE projects will organise an event, where soil experts and stakeholders will share insights and learnings on soil conservation, contamination and management.
The LIFE Platform Meeting on Soils, co-organised by LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 and LIFE NAdapta , is a two-day event that aims to foster networking, feedback, and policy input among the stakeholders involved in soil-related projects funded by the LIFE Programme. About 50 projects have planned to participate, among others LIFE DESERT-ADAPT, LIFE CO2SAND and LIFE FRAC-IN, who will present their project ideas and results.
The meeting will cover three main soil sectors: conservation and adaptation, contamination and bioremediation, and management and mitigation.
The participants will also discuss horizontal topics such as soil health monitoring, climate change, promotion of soil literacy, economic opportunities, and water-soil nexus. In addition, the attendees will be invited to share their professional experience, as well as the challenges and best practices for implementing the EU Soil Strategy and the upcoming Soil Directive.
The event will take place in the Basque Country and Navarre. On the first day, the opening will take place in the Baluarte Palace (Pamplona-Navarra) and on the second day, after the field visits (Oloriz, in Navarra and Asparrena and Vitoria-Gasteiz, in Euskadi), the closing of the day will take place in the Alava Technology Park (Vitoria-Gasteiz -Euskadi).
