A new edition of the KLIMA Azoka travelling fair will kick off at Ibilaldia 2025 in Galdakao
20/05/2025
The exhibition addresses issues such as the causes of climate change, habits at home, energy, mobility, leisure and consumption, the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project, soil protection and how citizens can be part of the solution.
KLIMA Azoka 2025 will travel around many municipalities and major events in the Basque Country to promote climate action among citizens through participatory and educational experiences.
Throughout the month of June, it will travel to the Euskal Eskola Publikoa festival in Orduña, the Bioterra Fair in Irun and Araba Euskaraz in the fields of Olarizu.
The KLIMA Azoka travelling fair, organised by Ihobe and the Basque Energy Agency-EVE within the framework of the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project, will begin its 2025 tour on 25th May at Ibilaldia, the big festival of the Basque-speaking schools (ikastolas) in Bizkaia, which will be held in Galdakao this year. Throughout the month of June, KLIMA Azoka will travel to the Euskal Eskola Publikoa festival in Orduña, the Bioterra Fair in Irun and Araba Euskaraz in the fields of Olarizu.
Once again this year, KLIMA Azoka is consolidating its position as a key initiative to raise awareness and mobilise Basque citizens to face the challenge of climate change. Since its first edition in 2023, this fun and travelling fair has visited many municipalities and major events in the Basque Country, bringing climate action closer to citizens through participatory and educational experiences.
Its main objective is none other than to empower the population and encourage co-responsibility in the fight against climate change. Thanks to different themed tents, games, dynamics and a challenge passport, KLIMA Azoka will invite citizens to reflect on their daily habits and to commit themselves to small actions that add up to moving towards a more sustainable society.
With a total of 7 tents, KLIMA Azoka addresses different environmental issues, such as the causes of climate change, energy, habits at home, mobility, leisure, consumption, soil protection and how to contribute to change from a personal perspective. The ultimate goal is for each individual to take on a challenge and commit to taking action.
2025 Edition
KLIMA Azoka will kick off at Ibilaldia, the big festival of the Basque-speaking schools (ikastolas) in Bizkaia, which will hold its 47th edition in Galdakao this year. This festive and educational event, which brings together thousands of people around the Basque language and culture, will be the starting point of a journey that will continue throughout June in other milestones of the Basque educational and social calendar: the Euskal Eskola Publikoa festival in Orduña (1st June), the Bioterra fair in Irun (6th-8th June) and Araba Euskaraz (15th June) in the fields of Olarizu.
In addition to promoting culture, education and sustainability, all of these events are ideal meeting places to bring climate action closer to families, young people and the general public, integrating sustainability into leading popular celebrations in the Basque Country.
The experience of previous years confirms the positive impact of KLIMA Azoka: in 2024, the fair was attended by more than 5,000 people and received an excellent rating from citizens attending it, with an average satisfaction score of 4.74 out of 5 and an impact on environmental awareness of 4.66 out of 5. These results confirm the effectiveness of the proposal to generate reflection and commitment to climate and energy challenges, and to adopting more sustainable habits.
With this support, KLIMA Azoka faces 2025 with the aim of maintaining and even surpassing these figures, inviting citizens to take part in the activities, enjoy the popular festivals and move towards a more sustainable future for the Basque Country.
